How to play

  1. Enter a nickname, pick a channel and press Play. No account needed.
  2. Tap a piece, then a highlighted square to move. A piece that moved must wait for its cooldown before moving again.
  3. Pawns move one square in any straight direction and capture diagonally. Other pieces move like in chess; rooks, bishops and queens slide up to 7 squares.
  4. Captured pieces can be placed again within the 5×5 around your king after their respawn time.
  5. Capture another king to earn its bounty (10 + 30% of that player’s score) and take 1–2 of their pieces as captives. Summon captives anywhere within the 9×9 around your king.
  6. New players get 60 seconds of spawn protection — but a piece loses it as soon as it moves.

FAQ

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It’s completely free and needs no sign-up. Play instantly in any PC or mobile browser.

How is it different from regular chess?

There are no turns — each piece has its own cooldown. The board is endless and dozens of people play at once. Instead of checkmate, you have to actually capture the enemy king.

What happens when my king is captured?

It’s game over. The other player collects your bounty and takes 1–2 of your pieces as captives. You can jump right back in and start again.

What are captives?

When you capture a king, 1–2 of that player’s pieces go to your reserve. Summon them within the 9×9 around your king; they’re stained in their old owner’s color and never respawn once lost.
